Rattan is popular material in manufacturing handicrafts . What is rattan? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rattan

The production process of traditional rattan handicrafts

Step 1: Choose bamboo and rattan materials.

Non-immature, not aged, erect bamboo with high hardness is the best kind of bamboo.

To achieve the desired results, the artists must first comprehend the materials in which they will work.

The best type of bamboo should be non-immature, not old, erect bamboo with high hardness. As for rattan, it is necessary to choose the type of sufficient size, about 5m long, straight, round, pest free. Plants that are too old or too young are unfit for human consumption.

Step 2: Preliminary raw material processing

Preparation of bamboo raw materials for further processing.

Bamboo is used for the material: it is cut for the body and then dried again. The termites were then viewed. Termites can be managed in two ways: either bamboo is placed in an XM5 chemical bath, which is a simple to use and very safe preservative; or bamboo is placed in an XM5 chemical bath, which is a preservative that is easy to use and very safe for the user; or bamboo is placed in an XM5 chemical bath,  a preservative that is easy to use and very safe for the user or it can be manually immersed in water for traditional method.

For rattan material: Since rattan is marked by many sharp spines all over it, it must be prepared with extreme caution. The thorns on the outside would be removed, exposing the white cloud flesh inside. The rattan is then slightly dried before moving on to the first stage of processing.

Step 3: Handling the materials

Until separating, workers polish each rattan thread.

Bamboo is used for the material: bamboo is peeled, polished with rough paper, and baked with straw or bamboo leaves to smoke, which has the effect of coloring, as well as drying the material and preventing warping. The bamboo will be a west-brown or black-brown color after the color has been smoked. The bamboo will be rolled straight after it has cooled.

Rattan raw materials are dried with extreme caution, both for drying and painting. The clouds will turn red if there is too much or too little smoke while drying. If it rains during the drying process, the rattan will lose its elegance.

It loses its freshness when it is sunny. The skin will be dull if the clouds aren't dry enough, and dry clouds will lose their luster. As a result, the drying of rattan necessitates a significant amount of work on the part of the craftsmen.

Step 4: Splitting yarn

Both rattan and bamboo must be broken before being weaved.

To be used, rattan and bamboo must be broken and stripped. The yarn's size and length can vary depending on the product. Large fibers are typically used to weave products, while small fibers are typically used to create more complex products.

Splitting rattan, in particular, necessitates extreme caution since rattan fibers often have irregular segments, necessitating extreme dexterity and ability to render the rattan fibers even.

Step 5: Weaving finished products

After being completed, the rattan will be knitted and molded into attractive and beautiful items by the professional hands of skilled craftsmen.

Products will be knitted directly or woven based on the existing steel frame, knitting in the creative designs of artisans or according to customers' requirements.
