In the past, water hyacinth spontaneously proliferated, bloomed and floated on rivers and canals, affecting the circulation of water. However, in recent years, this plant has been taken advantage of being raw materials for the production of handicrafts and interior decoration, and exported to many countries around the world.

            Over the past time, the traditional crafts of knitting water hyacinth has become a prominent and well-known brand in Ninh Binh land. Many households here have taken advantage of the alluvial grounds along the river to plant and weave water hyacinths, giving a very stable income. 

           Every day, the worker comes to the facility to work with a fairly high salary. The products from water hyacinth are mainly made according to the orders of foreign customers, mainly from the market: US, UK, Argentina, France, Germany, Norway, Korean, Japan,... Accordingly, the company will send samples requested by the buyers, the craftsmen only knit as required and then send the finished product to the company. In addition, establishments also actively research new models to introduce products to the company and then make contracts. Handicraft items are made by establishments such as baskets, rugs, cushion, handbag and and some products used for interior decoration.

Water hyacinth knitting has created many jobs for local workers

Raw water hyacinth will be sun dried for 5-7 days to reach the plasticity ratio of 12 kg of fresh water hyacinth equal to 1 kg of dry water hyacinth.
Before making the product, the worker must soak the water hyacinth in water for about 5 minutes so that it does not break when knitting the water.
