1. TO BE MADE CAREFULLY FROM NATURAL MATERIAL – SEAGRASS

Seagrass is the only flowering plants that can live underwater and a herbaceous plant. It lives in the plains affected by salinity and alum such as the Mekong Delta, the low-lying areas in the Red River Delta. The trunk of the tree is very tough and about 1.3m to 1.5m long, so we have used to weave furniture like slipper, rug, basket, wall decor… for a long time. When weaving, we split, dry and then woven the yarn. Seagrass yarns can also be spun into larger yarns instead of whole one.

Bolga fans are purely handwoven with seagrass and dyed in a variety of colors. Handcrafted by Vietnam skillful artisans in traditional process , they have a braided or leather-covered handle according to the models. The handle has a loop at the end of the fan which makes it easy for hanging. Each fan is a unique creation and makes a stylish and eco-friendly wall decoration when hung individually or as an arrangement of multiple fans.

The fans are also perfect for keeping cool in the heat and decorative purposes. It is durable and biodegradable hence environmentally friendly. The dye used for the colors are health-hazards-free. The woven piece is use manually to increase the availability of air in our immediate environment to either enhance respiration or dry us of our sweats.

We try to avoid (as much as possible) using plastic in our packaging. If you find your fan needs to be reshaped a little on arrival, you can easily do this by spraying the straw with water (avoiding the leather handle). Allow the water to soak into the straw for a minute and then firmly mould the fan back into shape and allow to dry for a couple of hours before use.
