1. Seagrass
Seagrass is a plant that grows in a humid place, with rhizomes growing underground, 0.50-1m deep. The pneumatophores are small, vertical and can be 1-2 meters high. Seagrass has a round cross-section (white-seagrass or brown-flowered seagrass) or three-sided (three-sided seagrass).
In Vietnam, seagrass often grows wild in coastal areas, mostly in Ninh Binh, Nam Dinh, Ha Nam. In Southern Vietnam, seagrass grows in Dong Thap Muoi.
Vietnamese people grow seagrass mainly to get tree trunks with the purpose of making handicraft products such as mats, baskets, handbags or make packages. In some areas, people dig for firewood (rhizomes) for washing, slicing, drying to make medicine.
