WORLDWIDE FAMOUS CONSTRUCTIONS MADE OF BAMBOO (PART 2)

There are various bamboo buildings all over the world that have withstood the test of time. It is because bamboo is among the strongest plant-based building materials. Its naturally hollow structure allows itself to own a strength factor twice as strong as solid wood. Some types of bamboo are known to be stronger than steel. Bamboo is flexible as well, with myriad bamboo constructions around the world possibly withstanding winds of which speed is faster than 170 mph.

Bamboo is also the largest member of the grass family that has incalculable usage. You can press, burn, flatten, slice, mold, or carve bamboo at your will. In Asian cuisine, the shoots of bamboo are used as a key ingredient for meals, allowing bamboo harvesters to make out of this amazing plant.

Countries specified with warmer climates like the Philippines are optimum environments for a majority of bamboo species. It is extremely fast-growing and can stretch up to 3 inches per day in these conditions. Refered to colder climates, certain regions with frost and snow, the Phyllostachys varieties are more ideal. This bamboo species can adapt temperatures as low as negative 5 degrees Fahrenheit, but they tend to grow more slowly in these conditions.

 Facility of Mason Farm Land:

Operation Facility of the Mason Farmland in North Carolina is a beautiful and sustainable structure. This is a biological farm facility designed by De Leon & Primmer Architecture Workshop (France) including two warehouses using local sustainable materials. This is a complex structure serving for agriculture such as storage of bearing seasons (seeds and parched hay).

Butterfly bamboo tent

Below is a project to support the hardship of orphaned refugees on the Burmese border. Inspired by the social responsibility architecture, the architects designed and built 6 bamboo huts, called Soe Tie Ker (Butterfly Tent). Made of bamboo, the huts combine features of natural ventilation and rainwater harvesting for reuse. This is a temporary shelter laid for 24 orphans.

Bamboo tree house

Bamboo Tree House in Taiwan is an unusual spot making construction that is of great interest to a number of people. It was designed and built by architect Roewu from England. The structure is very unique outside with solid bamboo curtains, firmed but very hovering. The luxurious bamboo façade fused with the interior design creates privacy while allowing natural light and maximum air circulation.

Bamboo Bridge in China by Simón Vélez

Asolutely one of the most eye catching bamboo buildings throughout the world, this bamboo bridge is located at the Crosswaters Ecolodge in China. It is a project by Colombian architect Simon Velez, who used Guadua in construction.

Ichibanya Restaurant in Jakarta, Indonesia, by DSA Architects

The owner of the restaurant advised the architects on his vision of creating an outdoor Japanese noodle restaurant. He demanded that the design could be easily assembled and disassembled as he wished. Those requests were taken into consideration, so the design team decided to deploy bamboo as their primary construction material for its flexibility.

Yoka Sara International’s Kayu Aga in Bali

The compound consists of a carport and three sleeping pavilions located in each of the four corners of the site.There is a two-story pavilion at the center containing dining and living room facilities and an elevated studio. The staircase linking the second and first floor elevates from an elliptical pond.
